But the fact that all three branches are currently dominated by one party and may agree on important policy preferences may make that competition all the more visible. It puts into relief the structural fight over which one gets to make the decisions. With Trump’s first array of executive orders, he gets in the ring with the other branches and throws the first punch. With a Republican-controlled Congress and a conservative Court, in which a third of the Justices were appointed by Trump, it is reasonable to wonder whether the President will lack for real rivals. But it is altogether possible that the other branches will take umbrage at assertions of his dominance and punch back. - Note: It will be interesting to see how this progresses. ---
