# thevenin's theorem
Any 2-port linear system made of resistors, capacitors, inductors, dependent/independent current/ voltage sources can be represented by an equivalent Thévenin model.
Model the I-V characteristics 'seen' by the load.
Equivalent circuits do not represent the power dissipated by the network it replaces:

Circuit above dissipates $P = -\frac{V_{in}^2}{R_1+R_2}$ while the eqiuvalent thevenin circuit:

does not.
You cannot find currents at a certain point in the circuit.
