# Switched Filter Networks
## Intro
Signal is switched between two networks, one phase shifted and the other clean through. [^1]
Less loss than the [high-pass and low-pass phase shifter](high-pass%20and%20low-pass%20phase%20shifter.md) because it doesn't require back to back switches. [^microwaves101]
Useful for up to 90 degrees, then can be casacaded to get 180 degrees - this would be larger than an equivalent [high-pass and low-pass phase shifter](high-pass%20and%20low-pass%20phase%20shifter.md) or [autotransformer](autotransformer.md) implementation.
Can work at mmWave.
The FET used for switching can be used as the high pass capacitor.

Note: L2 is used to [resonate](parallel%20resonance.md) the off-capacitance of Q2 to act as a near-perfect open circuit.

## Implementation in [GaAs](GaAs.md)
An example implementation of a switched network can be seen pictured below:

This makes use of phase bits introduced in [A Compact 5-bit Phase-Shifter MMIC for K-band Satellite Communication Systems](../../Spaces/Career/Companies/Millibeam/notes/A%20Compact%205-bit%20Phase-Shifter%20MMIC%20for%20K-band%20Satellite%20Communication%20Systems.md)
