This means the output voltage has to be lower than VDD-Vthn for the NMOS and greater than Vthp for the PMOS. ![](attachments/Transmission%20Gates-2.png#invert) Thus the NMOS is good at transmitting logic 0 (voltages close to GND). PMOS is good at transmitting logic H (voltages close to VDD).
